United Methodist Men

The purpose of the Mariner United Methodist Men is to be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek His will daily.  We believe that a man's service to God and the church should come first and foremost as a disciple of Christ.  This is a very active group:  They sponsor a luncheon the second Tuesday of each month where the men are encouraged to participate in prayer, worship, fellowship, stewardship, and regular study of the Scriptures.  Fundraising activities include dinners, a food booth at the yard sales, newspaper recycling box, and more.
United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women are a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ - to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  Our very active group meets on the first Monday of each month, except July and August, at 10:30 am (unless otherwise announced).  The meetings have a program including a guest speaker and a light luncheon.  Special programs include a Mission Study with six other churches in the area, and an annual fund raising Fashion Show and Luncheon.  On United Methodist Women's Sunday the Worship Service is led by our women.  This is when they award "Special Recognition" pins to those who have gone beyond in their service.
Adult Bible Study Classes

Bible Study classes are held on Thursday mornings at 10:00 am  and on Sunday before Worship services in Van Dyken Hall.  Other classes and book studies are offered during special times throughout the year, including Advent and Lent.  Small group studies are also offered thoughout the year at participants's homes.

Membership Care

Membership Care was formed to provide assistance for church members who would otherwise have difficulty performing minor tasks such as changing a light bulb or repairing a leaky faucet.  If you have minor tasks or repairs that need to be done, call us before you hire a professional.  We may be able to do the job, and you only need to pay for parts and supplies!  Need a ride to the doctor's office?  We may be able to help you with that, as well.  Call the church office at (352)596-0080, and they will contact us.
Altar Prayer Ministry

The Altar Prayer Ministry meets every Monday morning at 9 am to lift up the prayers and concerns received on Sunday.  Concerns are lifted up during the week in our daily prayer time.  Prayer request forms are located in the pew racks and placed in a box in the Narthax.  We have special programs to observe "National Day of Prayer" and "World Day of Prayer".
Craft Group

The Craft Group are creative, productive, caring members using God-given talents to create craft items.  Members work at home on crafts of their choice and bring them to the weekly meetings.  Projects are sold at the annual bazaar, local nursing homes, and the three Yard Sales.  Proceeds are donated to the church, abuse shelters, food pantry, backpack programs, and whatever God sends our way.  Members assist at memorial services by setting up, cooking, and cleaning up.  If you think God is calling you to help, join us every Tuesday from 10 am to 1 pm in the Van Dyken Building.

Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is a "people helping people" service offered to provide shelter for those of our Mariner UMC family who need a place to stay during evacuations because of hurricanes in our area.  A signup sheet in the Narthex provides an opportunity for those in potential evacuation zones to be paired with other Mariner members who can offer shelter during those times of need.
